You can need an insurance policy that comes under the heading of a Special Risk usually for one of three reasons:
A) You yourself are a particular risk. For example you suffer from or have been diagnosed with a specific illness.
B) Your usual occupation carries a high risk. I.E. You are a Fireman, Oil Rig Worker or Member of the Armed Forces etc.
C) You wish to do something that carries a high risk. I.E. Climb a Mountain or Drive a Racing car or be a body guard in Baghdad etc.
The general insurance company will not write policies that carry these sorts of risks. Each risk has to be assessed individually and we will endeavour to place your policy on the floor with a Lloyd’s underwriter who will undertake your particular risk.
Obviously as these types of policies are very individual we can only quote you a premium after receiving details of exactly the type and nature of the risk and the type of cover you need or require.
